Owlcrate-athon is running from February 9th – 22nd 2019, and this is the third time it has been run. It was designed to encourage Owlcrate Subscribers catch up on any books they’ve received but not yet read. However it is open to anyone who owns/borrows any books previously sent by Owlcrate. More details of the read-athon and past books can be found on Owlcrate’s Youtube Announcement.
I have chosen to take part in Owlcrate-athon alongside my February TBR – but with the understanding that I probably won’t get to all 6 titles that I’ve picked. Therefore my aim is prioritise the 3 challenge titles (more details below) and read any of the other three if I get the opportunity/motivation.
Challenge 1: Read your shortest Owlcrate book.
I cheated a little with this on and picked Sleepy Hollow and other short stories by Washington Irvine. This was not a featured book of the month – but it did come in an Owlcrate box (August 2017) with a special edition cover, so I have chosen this title.
Challenge 2: Read the Owlcrate book you’ve owned the longest.
This is The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano from the November 2017 box. I do have some older Owlcrate books that I bought in sales, but this is the one that I have owned longest and not yet read, (I became a subscriber in October 2017 and have read and enjoyed Wild Beauty).
Challenge 3: Read three books.
For my final challenge pick, I went with The Sandcastle Empire by Kayla Olsen. This is another of my oldest Owlcrate titles and I have now read This Splintered Silence by Kayla Olsen, which has motivated me to get to this one.
Potential Bonus Books to Read:
- Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young, (May 2018),
- Amber & Dusk by Lyra Selene,(December 2018),
- The Guilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi, (January 2019).
